People often find themselves in a hard spot in life – but it’s not always the end. Sadly, hunger doesn’t discriminate and coping with hunger every day is a reality for many people. Many of our guests are homeless and destitute and the time they spend with us gives them a safe place to rest and refresh their bodies. You don’t even have to be homeless to be hungry. Many people from low income families have to make difficult choices each and every day; the choice to pay rent or the electric bill or buy food. Coming to our Soup Kitchen allows them and their families to maintain a roof over their heads.
We stand with the most disadvantaged and have a responsibility to address the causes of poverty in their lives together. Providing a weekly hot meal is only part of our mission. We provide additional services like food pantry, bathroom facilities and laundry services. We also strive to alleviate hunger and homelessness in our community by addressing key root issues.
Fresh Start Smart supports, encourages and strengthens those whose lives have been affected by hunger and poverty to ensure that they have access to the resources they need to transform their lives. We conduct workshops and empower them with life skills and basic knowledge on nutrition, financial management and leadership. A sense of empowerment can bring about ripples of change.

To achieve and maintain self-sufficiency among the poor and homeless so that they live dignified and productive lives.
Our objectives
Providing food for the homeless and less fortunate in our community regardless of their age, race, religion, or culture. We allow them access to our food pantry for additional food requirements they have throughout the week.
Offer empowerment programs to encourage self-sufficiency and improve the quality of life of the individuals we serve. We empower them to change their situation
Provision of bathroom facilities for our guests. We help restore dignity and self-respect and meet the need for clean water and clothing. They are able to shower and refresh themselves and have a change of clothing. There are also laundry services.
